11/11/11 Our new addition Elle Cherie Miller was born into
the Miller family. This is where all the fun will start. Tim and I went to the
hospital at 4:00 in the morning. It was a very weird feeling knowing that you
were driving to the hospital with just two of you in the car and when you go
back home there will be three. (side note – about a week before I was at my 37
th
week appointment and Dr. Saffer informed
me that the baby was just not going to grow any more in my belly and would do
much better outside the belly with moms milk and such. He then proceeded to
look me in the eye with a very serious question, he said, “we would like to do
a procedure called an induction to have the baby come early” now at that moment
I was thinking he must have missed the memo that I had pretty much begged the
nurse practitioner 5 months earlier to have a induction done on me, she said no
of course not. See Tim and I were aiming for a special date 11-11-11 and we
were very much going to miss that date by two weeks. So when he asked me that question as if I was
going to say no to it. I came back with my answer, a loud Yes! And I would like
to do it on Friday the 11
th! He
told me they couldn’t schedule inductions on the weekends, but he could schedule
it on Thursday the night before and I would most likely get in on Friday
morning. I took it! ) Back to the story. When we got to the hospital it was very quite
and no one was around. We got all
checked in as if we were just checking into a hotel room. Everyone was
extremely nice to us. Smiling so big as if they were saying in the back of
their heads, oh these youngens don’t know what they got themselves in to. So pretty much they hooked me up to all my
baby monitors and I.V. lines and told me there’s nothing to do but wait. Tim
and I were having a grand ol’ time smiling at each other and excited to see
what came next. Then as if someone flipped a switch it all changed, my pain what
from a 1 to a 7 in like 5 minutes. I was
pushing the call button to call the nurse for my epidural. She informed me that
since I suggested I might not want the epidural I am now 3
rd in line
and it would take a little while for the nurse anesthetist to come. By the time
the nurse got there I think I was on the verge of blacking out because they
kept asking me questions and I couldn’t answer any of them. Right after I got the epidural she decided to
see how dilated I was. I was at about an 8 or a 9 and was ready to push. Long
story short little Ellie was born 5 pounds 10 ounces, totally healthy and
beautiful. My doctor and especially my nurse were so awesome and amazing. They
were just as excited as we were to see baby Ellie for the first time. Elle is
the best present we have ever received. We would do it a hundred times over
just to have her with us every day.
11-11-11 baby! She is so precious. I really hope we get to hang out next weekend!
